More carry-ladder problems trace back to a mis-built hybrid than any other single club in the bag. It's the club most often bought off a rack to "replace the long iron" without ever checking what number it actually needs to hit.
Built to a Category, Not a Number
Most golfers buy a hybrid labeled to replace "the 3-iron" or "the 4-iron" without checking whether it actually lands where that iron used to, or where the neighboring clubs in their own bag currently sit. The result is a hybrid that quietly overlaps a fairway wood above it, an iron below it, or both.
We fit hybrids the opposite way: we start from the two carry numbers on either side of the gap you're trying to fill, then build the head, shaft, and loft combination that lands in between.

Head Style
Compact, iron-like heads generally launch lower and land steeper for players with faster tempo; wider, rounded heads launch easier and hold greens softer at slower swing speeds.
Loft & Length
Hybrids in the same loft range vary in actual carry more than most golfers realize between brands — another reason we build to a measured number, not a stamped one.
Shaft Profile
A hybrid shaft that plays too stiff often shows up as low, knuckling flight rather than obvious mis-hits — easy to miss without launch monitor data.
Closing the Long-Iron Hole
Long irons (2, 3, and often 4-iron) are the hardest clubs in a bag to strike consistently for most golfers, so their real-world carry distance varies more swing to swing than shorter, more lofted clubs. A hybrid built to replace one isn't just easier to hit — done right, it also produces a tighter, more repeatable carry number, which is the entire point of the ladder.
